Applying Jacquard Screen Filler – direct method
- You can place the screen mesh flat side down over a sketch or design and trace it onto the mesh with a soft lead pencil (6B-8B). To prevent damaging the screen, use a rounded lead and do not press too hard.
- Elevate the screen by placing items under the frame (another frame can help with this) to lift it away from the work surface.
- Using a soft bristle brush, paint the areas of the mesh that you want to block out with the screen filler.
- Apply with thin, even strokes to ensure that the holes in the mesh are blocked.
- Allow to dry completely before printing with water-based screen printing inks.
Applying Jacquard Screen Filler – using Jacquard Drawing Fluid
- Apply the Drawing FluidYou can place the screen mesh flat side down over a sketch or design and trace it onto the mesh with a soft lead pencil (6B-8B). To prevent damaging the screen, use a rounded lead and do not press too hard. Elevate the screen by placing items under the frame (another frame can help with this) to lift it away from the work surface. Alternatively you can paint your design directly onto the mesh with the drawing fluid by placing a clear acrylic sheet between the sketch and the screen mesh.
- Apply Jacquard Screen Drawing Fluid with a soft bristle brush onto the screen mesh in the areas you want to print through.
- When it is dry, use a squeegee to coat the entire screen with a thin, even layer of Jacquard Screen Filler.
- Allow the screen filler to dry completely and then spray both sides of the screen with cold water. The water-based Jacquard Screen Drawing Fluid will wash out to create the stencil in the remaining screen filler.
Removing Jacquards Screen Filler and reclaiming the screen
Aim to remove Jacquard Screen Filler & Block Out within five days, as it will become increasingly difficult to remove. Cover both sides of the screen with paper towels and wet thoroughly with diluted bleach. Always exercise caution when working with bleach. Allow to soak for approximately 20 minutes, remove the wet paper towels, and then spray both sides of the screen with cold water. Use a soft brush and water to remove the softened Screen Filler & Block; if necessary repeat the process until the screen is clean.
